August 2007 News

Saluti dall'Italia!

It has been nearly a year since the news section of this blog was updated, and a lot has happened. Several months of hectic data collections and analyses took over the end of 2006, only to be followed by several more months of thesis writing. Luckily, in the end I did complete all the requirements for my Master's degree, and am now a University of Delaware graduate.

Also, following a strenous summer of burocratic paper work and trips to the Italian consulate in Philadelphia, I am finally in Perugia for my Research Fellowship with Let People Move. It has been good to be here, and I am excited to see where the research can go. The staff that will be helping with the research are great to work with, and can't wait to get their hands dirty with me, so that has been very encouraging, and a great start to my time over here!

About Me

I am a 26 year old Research Fellow studying under the advisement of Professors Giuliano Cerulli, Mario LaMontagne, and Thomas Buchanan.

Going back a little further, I am a U.S. citizen who spent 17 years in Italy and went back to America in 1998 to attend LeTourneau University in Longview, TX. While there, Dr. Roger Gonzalez introduced me to cutting-edge undergraduate biomechanical projects, which gave me a taste of the kind of research I want to continue. After completing my Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, I married my beautiful Bethany, with whom I have an energetic three-year-old girl we like to call Natalie, and a newborn known as Sophie.

In 2007, I completed a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering under Prof. Thomas Buchanan at the University of Delaware. Following the completion of my degree, I began a research fellowship at the Let People Move Biomechanical Laboratory in collaboration with the Scuola di Specializzazione in Ortopedia e Traumatologia, Medicina Fisica e Riabilitazione in Perugia, Italy. In February, 2008, I started classes as I pursue a Ph.D. through the University of Delaware.
